For the 2019 Cairns Grand Parade many of the crowd along the esplanade were astonished to see an army of what appeared to be purple and white jellyfish approaching. As the jellyfish came closer it was plain to see that this was not an invasion from the barrier reef. It was the Cairns Street Chaplains wearing balloon backpacks!
The Street Chaplains team treated the crowd to glow in the dark street chaplains wristbands, as they walked the parade route. They swirled around the big purple van, loading up with handfuls of wristbands to give to the excited crowd.
What will the Street Chaplains do for the 2020 parade? We haven’t figured that out yet but it’s sure to be fun.
